Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville, KY sits on the banks of the Ohio River across from the state of Indiana. The city has a population of 615,000 while the combined Metro area has a population of nearly 1.4 million which includes the surrounding counties and parts of Indiana. Aside from the world famous bourbon that is distilled in Kentucky, Louisville is home to the Kentucky Derby, the first horse race of the triple crown held yearly in May at Churchill Downs race track. Baseball is celebrated in Louisville at the famous Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory where Louisville Slugger bats are manufactured. They are used by Major League Baseball and in leagues around the world. Muhammed Ali, the world famous boxer, is one of Louisville’s favorite sons. Fortune 500 companies in Louisville include Humana, Kindred Healthcare and Yumi Brands. Shipping and cargo is also a big part of the economy as UPS uses Muhammed Ali International Airport as its main hub.
